PRE – PRODUCTION
What benefits are there to having my wedding filmed?
Capturing your wedding on video means capturing all those small moments you may have missed. The first thing couples say to us when they receive their DVD is: “We never saw half the things you managed to film.” In years to come, your video will provide you with something photographs can’t – a moving, visual and audio representation of your special day.
How many years has Life Weddings been in business?
Life Weddings was formed in July 2004.
Can we meet with you prior to the wedding?
Absolutely. We enjoy meeting with couples prior to their wedding as it provides us with an excellent opportunity to discuss their individual requirements in greater detail.
What are the benefits to booking early?
The main benefit to booking early is that you are able to take advantage of our most current prices. Although your wedding may only be in 12 months time, if you book now, you won’t be subject to our annual price increase.
Do we have to pay the full amount for the package we select upfront?
No. In order to secure your booking, we only require a 50% deposit. The balance is payable 14 days prior to your wedding. We do offer a 10% discount for those couples who wish to pay for their DVD in full, upon booking.
Do we receive confirmation of our booking?
Yes. Once we have received your deposit, we will send you a receipt, along with a Letter of Confirmation, clearly stating that you have booked us to film your wedding on the date specified.
Do you charge extra for travel expenses?
We only charge after the first 100 km’s at the standard AA rate of R2,00 per km. The exact amount and breakdown will be added to your final invoice.
Do you visit the venue beforehand?
If we are unfamiliar with the venue, we may opt to visit it prior to your wedding. We also like to phone the church/service venue about a week before so that we can find out whether there are any shooting restrictions.
Once we have made a booking, do we need to provide anything else?
The next step would be to complete our online booking form. We will also need a CD/DVD of between 8 - 10 songs you would like to have included on your DVD. These can either be supplied on the day or just prior to your wedding.
Do you offer combined Photography and Videography Packages?
No. We only specialise in videography. We do however work closely with several, professional photographers. Their details can be found on our Home Page.
Are all your Wedding DVDs the same?
No. As each couple is different, so are the wedding videos we produce. Prior to your wedding, we find out what ‘feel’ you would like to go for. This could either be contemporary and elegant or slightly more on the traditional side. We factor in colour schemes, fonts used on your invites and even special quotes you may like to have included.
PRODUCTION
Who films the wedding?
We employ three, full time videographers who are passionate about what they do. Each videographer has at least 5 years wedding video experience and understands the importance of producing a truly stunning and unique DVD of your special day.
What happens if the videographer is ill on the day or your equipment is faulty?
The benefit to us employing 3 videographers is that we always have someone on standby should a videographer fall sick. All our equipment is checked the day before the wedding and we do take along back up cameras, batteries etc.
Do we need to cater for the videographer(s)?
Yes. As our videographers are unable to leave the wedding in order to get something to eat, we do ask that they are properly catered for.
What equipment do you use?
We use the latest Sony cameras, sturdy Manfrotto tripods and radio microphones (Lapel mics)
Do you use any additional lights?
No. On-camera lights are extremely bright and therefore very distracting when used. The cameras we use are able to pick up on low lighting conditions successfully without compromising on image quality.
Do you have to film up close in order to get good audio?
No. We film in a very unobtrusive manner. As we use the latest equipment, there are no bulky cameras to move around and we are often complimented on how much we blended into the background unnoticed. We also use lapel mics so the audio quality is crystal clear, irrespective of what distance we film from.
POST – PRODUCTION
Can we select our own music and images?
Yes. We prefer our couples to choose their own music. You may even provide us with some images of yourselves which we can incorporate onto the DVD.
How long is the DVD?
This is predominantly dependant on the length of the service and speeches. An average length DVD is between 1 hour 20 min to 1 hour 45 minutes. A 2 camera shoot often results in the DVD being presented on 2 disks.
What format is the final DVD?
Our DVDs are presented in wide screen format 16:9 and the audio is recorded in stereo.
How long does it take to receive our DVD?
We offer a 4 week turnaround time.
How is the DVD presented?
Your final DVD comes in a uniquely designed jewel case. We will contact your photographer requesting images we can use.
If we are not in Cape Town when the DVD is complete, can you post it to us?
Yes. We are more than happy to post your DVD, via registered mail, to anywhere in the world.
Do you offer Special Effects (black and white/slow motion/colour grading) on all your packages?
Yes. The same care and attention is applied to all our DVDs, regardless of which package is selected.
